Finally, a student film worth watching!
I've seen many versions of Shakespeare's "Much Ado About Nothing": there have been a few productions whose Hero and Claudio left me wanting, or a few in which I could only feign interest in the villainous Don John's machinations, or even a few without a funny Dogberry--but always, the play (and subsequently any film version, including this one) would shine warmly when it exchanged the verse for prose and its stuffy nobles for the true leads of the play, Beatrice and Benedick. With their cynical minds and sharp tongues, the disdainful Benedick and Beatrice engage in a heated battle of wits throughout the play. A template for countless romantic comedies of stage and screen to come, the relationship that begins in hostility and mistrust transforms into one of affectionate and enduring love.
In that respect, this particular adaptation (filmed, directed, and acted entirely by high school students) does not disappoint: the Beatrice and Benedick, played by Robin Noble and Jake...
A great attempt
Though an amateur attempt. These kids did amazing! I was very entertained. And this is my favorite version. Some of the acting in it was forced an not very compelling, but the main cast was wonderful. And for a project that is simply made by high school kids I was very impressed. Anyone who downs these kids for their inexperience doesn't realize or remember their first films. I would recommend to my friends for sure.
Great film!
I loved this film, I imagine they did not have a huge budget for this film, but what they did with that money is award worthy in my opinion. If you are cynical person, like the previous post "why" then this is not the movie for you.(I imagine no movie is the movie for you lol) If you thoroughly enjoy cinema, and all aspects of it, then you will appreciate this film. The laughs keep coming as well as the twist and turns that you can expect from a Shakespeare story. I love this picture, and I wish there were more films from these guys. Good job.
