Rubber Room An Honest Look at Big City Education
Rubber Room made no conclusions...the way a good Documentary should be...It does inform people outside the Education Community what is going on in NYC schools today. The problem of reassigned Teachers is real. Yes, Teachers are paid full salary while their cases are traveling through the mind boggling red tape of the Department od Education. However, when a Police Officer, or Bus Driver, or other Civil Servant is faced with charges, they are also placed on leave with pay. To fire someone BEFORE charges are substantiated would be a total lack of due process...innocent until proven guilty(as expressed by one of the Teachers in Rubber Room.)
An interesting Sequel would be to interview the same Teachers five or ten years later to see where they are now, and how the Rubber Room experience has changed their lives....Jeremy Garrett, are you listening? In summation, a great glimpse of a reality that most people does not know exists!! Check it out!
Excellent
Excellent documentary about what teachers in NYC face every day, and how teachers who have done nothing wrong are targeted and given bogus charges by administrators. The "rubber rooms" no longer exist, but the witchhunts against innocent teachers continue.
Wow!
A little on the low budget side, but I found it to be weirdly compelling and interesting. Totally crazy that these Rubber Rooms even exist. Definitely worth watching; highly recommended.
